In September, Chicago won a lawsuit challenging the Trump Administration’s restrictions on federal funding for “sanctuary cities,” a ruling that carried with it a national injunction and implications for cities, counties, and states across the country. A panel of experts, activists, and immigrants will reflect on this ruling and what it means for Chicago and our immigrant population, as well as developments around DACA and the most recent travel ban. Speakers are:

  •          Mary Meg McCarthy – Executive Director, Heartland Alliance National Immigrant Justice Center
  •          Alderman Gilbert Villegas (Fellow since 2013) – Co-Founder, Stratagem Consulting Group, LLC
  •          Raul Raymundo (Fellow since 1996) – CEO, The Resurrection Project
  •          Moderated by Clarisol Duque (Fellow since 2017) – Chicago Chief of Staff/Director, Office of U.S. Senator Dick Durbin

This event is part of our 2018 Fellows Program Leadership Breakfast Series, which is open to all Fellows this year. The goal of this monthly series is to offer an opportunity to engage with cross-sector leaders who have a unique perspective on current issues and the expertise to provide an inside look.

The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a networking reception and breakfast. The program will start promptly at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $25 per person.

Jenner & Block is accessible, with a street level entrance located at 353 N. Clark Street. Elevators are located throughout with access to all floors.
