How We LEAD GREAT Together

Better Leaders. Better Chicago.

Our impact and our reach are growing as we continue to develop transformative leaders who are disrupting the status quo. In our mind, it’s simple. Better leaders. Better Chicago. Our Fellows are effective leaders because they engage people with diverse perspectives and experiences. This has been LGC’s approach from the beginning, and one we remain committed to moving forward.

Our Mission is to effect transformative civic impact.

Leadership Greater Chicago is a premiere civic leadership development program with a proud legacy of convening, connecting and mobilizing the region’s most promising leaders around key socioeconomic issues through dynamic educational and experiential activities. LGC’s Signature Fellows Program provides the foundation for a lifelong commitment to civic engagement by educating members about issues facing the Chicago region and challenging them to bring about transformative change in the community. LGC creates strong connectivity among our Fellows to positively impact not only themselves but their employees, constituents, clients, neighbors and families. This connectivity is the backbone and strength of the LGC network, enabling leaders to reach out across sectors based on the common goal of changing our region for the better.

Civic Engagement Model

Convene. Connect. Mobilize.

Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC) is the only organization in the region that dares to bring together high-performing individuals from the private, nonprofit, and public sectors to tackle the area’s most pressing issues. This proven formula has generated decades of rich conversation, created lifelong relationships, and developed thought leaders, that combined have shaped the civic landscape of our region. This can only be achieved when all three sectors are at the table.

Join us for a virtual discussion about how cross-sector collaborations and place-based strategies, such as the recent opening of Thresholds Health, are creating solutions to decrease health disparities and close the life expectancy gap of Chicago's South and West Side residents. Black Chicagoans have a shorter life expectancy than their white counterparts, and that gap is particularly stark on the South and West Sides. Racial and economic segregation has resulted in a community where residents lack access to hospitals and health centers and experience disproportionately high rates of economic stress, infant mortality, and chronic disease. The West Side United collaborative and other local initiatives are seeking to remove the intertwined social, economic and environmental barriers that affect residents’ health. Open to Fellows, the LGC Class of 2024 and Leadership Series Partners only.
