Leadership Series Session 3 | Is the Law still King in America? (in person)
In a time when the principles of justice and fairness are more vital than ever, Is the Law Still King in America?, the third session of our 2025-26 LGC Leadership Series, will examine the role of the legal system in upholding democratic values and protecting human rights.
Join us for a fireside chat with Illinois Attorney General KWAME RAOUL, moderated by Illinois Attorney General’s Office Executive Deputy Attorney General CARA HENDRICKSON (LGC Fellow since 2014), as we consider how civic and regional leaders can continue to champion a just legal system that reflects our shared humanity and inspires collective action across sectors.
Together we will explore the current state of the judiciary and legal norms, reflecting on the enduring significance of legal integrity in fostering a fair and inclusive society. This conversation will revisit the timeless idea that “in America, the law is king,” emphasizing how the rule of law is essential for safeguarding human dignity, ensuring justice across lines of difference, and maintaining a resilient democracy.
