This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) explains how Leadership of Greater Chicago (“we”, “us”, or “LGC”) may collect, use, process, share, disclose and store personal information through our website and offline. We collect personal information from you in order to provide you with the best experience when you visit or use the Site or our Services.

  • Demographic Information: We may collect certain demographic information, such as: race and ethnicity, religious affiliation, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, and disability status or requested accommodations; provided, however, that your submission of any or all of this information is entirely voluntary. 
  • Employment and Professional History: We may collect professional and educational information, such as educational background, place of employment, job title, employer address, work email, and information about the organization you are affiliated with. 
  • Other Identifying Information: We may collect your IP address, social media user names, or other unique identifiers for the computer, mobile device, technology, or other device you use to access the Site. 
  • Cookies and Do Not Track: We may collect information about you or your use of the Site through cookies, tracking pixels, or other technologies. We use this information to better understand, customize and improve the Site, Services and offerings. The information we collect through cookies, tracking pixels or mobile identifiers may help us understand how visitors use and engage with the Site.  If you have provided us with your personal information, for example, when you registered for an account or requested information from us, we may associate this personal information with information we have collected through cookies, tracking pixels, mobile identifiers or other technologies.

Tracking Pixels.  A “tracking pixel” also known as an Internet tag, pixel tag, web beacon or clear GIF, links web pages to web servers and their cookies, and may be used to transmit information collected through cookies back to a web server.

Please note that we do not collect sensitive financial information or other sensitive information via our Site, for example in the event of a donation. Instead that information is collected and processed by a third-party service provider. 

SOURCES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

The categories of personal information described above may be collected from the following sources:

Directly. We collect personal information from you directly when you:

  • Submit a request for information using the form on our Site;
  • Make a donation on the Site;
  • Register for an LGC event;
  • Submit an application for one of our programs on the Site; and
  • Register for a user-account on the Site.

Automatically. We collect personal information from you automatically when you:

  • Visit, browse and navigate our Site on any device; or
  • Click on sponsored links.

We may also collect personal information about you over time and across different websites, apps and devices, when you use our Site, using tracking technologies such as cookies, pixels and APIs. 

From Third Parties. We may also receive information about you from other third-party service providers, such as analytics companies, social media companies and others. In many cases, this will be information that you have provided directly to or collected from you by these third-parties. 

By Combining Personal Information. We may combine personal information that we collect online and offline, from different devices that you use, or information we obtain through third parties with personal information we already have about you. 

HOW AND WHY WE USE THE PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We may use personal information we collect for the following purposes:

Transactional Purposes. 

  • To fulfill or meet the reason you provided the information;
  • To respond to your inquiries; and
  • To process any registration you make to one of our programs.  

Personalization. To provide, support, personalize and develop the Site and our Services. 

Analytics and Performance. For testing, attribution, research, reporting, and analysis, including to develop the Site and Services.

To communicate with you to fulfill or meet the reason you provided the information, for example, if you share your name and contact information to request information about us via the Site or ask a question about our Services, we will use that personal information to respond to your inquiry.

Legal Purposes: In certain instances, we may use and/or disclose your contact information when we have reason to believe that it is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against persons or entities who may be causing injury to you, to us, or to others. Marketing Purposes: If you have filled out a contact form on the Site or signed up for our newsletter we may use this information to send you marketing communications including other newsletters and emails. If you access our Site from a social media platform (e.g., LinkedIn), we may receive information about you from such sites, in accordance with that social media platform’s privacy policy and/or terms of use which could include the ability for us to track your activities on those sites, such as your interactions with our advertisements as well as other interest-based advertising data.

Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages that you view, what websites or search terms which referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site.

INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

Our Service Providers. We may disclose your personal information to third-parties that provide business, professional, marketing, analytics, or technical support services for us and/or administer activities on our behalf. 

Relevant Third Parties in Connection with a Business Transaction. If you opt-out, we may still send you non-promotional messages, such as information about our programs for which you are registered.

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, destruction and disclosure. However, no system can be completely secure in today’s environment. We cannot guarantee your information, searches, or other communications will always remain secure. The safety and security of your personal information also depends on you taking care in your online practices. 

INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

We do not transfer, store, or process any personal information outside of the U.S. Our Site is directed only to U.S. consumers and customers for services and is only intended for use in the U.S. Our Site is not directed to consumers or customers outside of the U.S.

INFORMATION RETENTION

We will retain your personal information as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy, including to satisfy our legal or reporting requirements, unless a longer retention period is required or allowed under applicable law. 

THIRD PARTY SITES

The Site may contain features or links to websites and services provided by third parties, which are not governed by this Policy. Any personal information you provide to the owner or operator of another website or a third-party service is provided directly to the owner or operator and is subject to its privacy policy, even if accessed through the Site. We encourage you to review all third parties’ privacy policies before providing them with your personal information.

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY 

The Site and the services offered are not intended for or directed to individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18.  If you believe that we might have collected personal information from a child under 18, please contact us at info@lgcchicago.org.

We will update this Policy as needed to reflect changes in our services, the law and customer feedback. When we post changes to the Policy, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top.  If there are material changes to this Policy or how we use your personal information, we will contact you in accordance with applicable law.
