Celebrating Our Shared Commitment to Civic Leadership

Our nation’s 250th anniversary is approaching and it’s time to come together and consider the meaning of this moment as civic leaders. This is more than a historical milestone; it is an active responsibility and call-to-action to renew and deepen our commitment to civic engagement.

This landmark anniversary comes as our city, region and nation faces profound challenges, but our community — coming together across sectors, connecting with shared purpose, and collaborating to lead great change — has the power to strengthen and transform the Greater Chicago Region and beyond.

“As we observe the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, we are called to reflect on both our nation’s progress made and the work still required to build a more equitable, inclusive and thriving society,” said Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC) CEO Myetie Hamilton (LGC Fellow since 2016). “ By reflecting on our history, we can better shape our shared future. This is an opportunity for our courageous and diverse community of cross-sector civic leaders to amplify their commitment to collective activation and bridge divides to meet the moment for our city, region, country and world.”

Chicago will honor this milestone and the history of our great city with exhibits, concerts, performances and more. At LGC, we hope you will join us in celebrating with renewed commitment to civic leadership, cross-sector connection and community engagement.

Our LGC Fellows Network portal, Fellow Convenings and events like Leadership Series, and more will support expanded opportunities to connect with one another’s shared humanity and engage with socioeconomic issues to inspire and activate innovative solutions for the Greater Chicago Region and all who call it home.

Thank you for marking this watershed moment with us, and for your ongoing commitment to civic leadership and efforts to champion transformational change. Together, we propel Chicago forward.
