Leadership Breakfast | Three Seats at the Table: Leading a New Chicago

Thursday, December 12, 2019
7:30 - 9:15 a.m.

Registration has closed.

American women won the right to vote just 100 years ago, but not all were included. For women of color, the wait to obtain this basic civic right was much longer. The evolution of American voting rights shows how far we've come — and how far we still have to go.

Join us on Thursday, December 12 for an unplugged conversation with three leading women who are making change and championing progress in our city as new voices elected to public office. Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx (LGC Fellow since 2009), Chicago Public Schools Chief Executive Officer Janice Jackson, EdD (LGC Fellow since 2007), and City Clerk of Chicago Anna Valencia (LGC Fellow since 2018) will share what led them to their success and how they hope to continue to lift up the marginalized.

This event is part of our 2019-20 Leadership Breakfast Series, themed Building an Inclusive Chicago, which is open to ALL Fellows. During this monthly, seven-part series we will delve deep into what it will take to move from a city with opportunities for some to a city with opportunities for all.

We will hear from subject matter experts, community organizers, government officials, entrepreneurs, and corporate leaders who will help us better understand the impact of these inequities and why hiring decisions, job creation, and community investments must prioritize improving the lives of residents from all backgrounds and every corner of our region.

Together, we can ensure Chicago is an inclusive and welcoming place for everyone.

PROGRAM
The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a networking reception and breakfast. The program will start promptly at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 9:15 a.m. The cost is $25 per person per event (nonrefundable), which includes a meal.
