LGC Day of Service is a family-friendly event organized by LAN leaders to celebrate our strong culture of service and the critical impact of volunteerism in building and sustaining thriving communities.
The day will offer a variety of volunteer opportunities across the city, from food distribution (Ravenswood) and cleaning green spaces (Englewood) to strengthening families (Austin). There's something for everyone!
A description of each volunteer opportunity is outlined below. To sign-up, click on the green button above.
Here are a few more specifics about the day:
- Start times vary by site
- Most volunteer shifts are 2-3 hours long
- Each site will welcome between 15-30 volunteers
- Volunteers will be required to sign a liability waiver at most project sites
- All activities welcome youth (some age restrictions) and can accommodate individuals with limited mobility
- Representatives from participating organizations will briefly meet with volunteers to provide more information about their work
- Lunch will be available for purchase at a nearby restaurant or onsite food truck to continue the connections and conversations
- LAN leaders will serve as the point of contact at each project site
- Additional details and reminders will be emailed to participants in advance of the event
- All Fellows and their families are welcome to participate!
For those who are not available or comfortable participating in person on May 21, we will publish a list of alternative and remote volunteer opportunities that have been curated by LAN leaders. Watch your inbox for those details.
