LGC Leadership Series: Accelerating Equitable Economic Development
PLEASE NOTE: This event is exclusively for Fellows and Sponsor Participants, as well as the LGC Class of 2025 (preregistered, no ticket required). Due to limited seating and high demand, we kindly ask that you register only if you are certain you can attend.
Join us on Thursday, Nov. 21 for the second session of the 2024-25 LGC Leadership Series | Chicago at the Crossroads. This session, focused on Accelerating Equitable Economic Development, will be moderated by DAVID REIFMAN (LGC Fellow since 1999), partner and chair of Croke Fairchild’s Real Estate Practice.
David will be joined by Chicago Department of Planning and Development (DPD) Commissioner CIERE BOATRIGHT (LGC Fellow since 2020) and Chicago Deputy Mayor of Business, Economic and Neighborhood Development KENYA MERRITT (LGC Fellow since 2022 and Daniel Burnham Fellow).
Large-scale developments hold the transformative power to revitalize historically underinvested areas; however, the pace of their realization and the balance between community needs and economic ambitions often present substantial hurdles.
Together, we will explore how leaders are working to “cut the tape” on community-focused developments and ensure projects center around quality of life for residents while generating economic growth. Our esteemed speakers will offer diverse perspectives as we collectively seek solutions to expedite equitable development in neighborhoods.
The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a networking reception and continental breakfast. The program will start promptly at 8:45 a.m. and be followed with additional time for networking.
