Leadership Greater Chicago Elects New Board Members:
Lucino Sotelo, Northern Trust Corporation, and Ann Marie Wright, BMO Financial Group
CHICAGO, IL (January 29, 2024) – Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC), the region's premier civic leadership development organization, recently welcomed the election of Lucino Sotelo, Executive Vice President at Northern Trust Corporation, and Ann Marie Wright, U.S. Chief Risk Officer for BMO Financial Group, to the LGC Board of Directors. As elected LGC board members, both Sotelo and Wright will support LGC’s mission to develop a strong channel of civic leaders who will shape the future of Chicago and the region.
"We are grateful to have Lucino and Ann Marie join the LGC Board of Directors as we move into a year that presents new challenges and exciting opportunities for the future of civic leadership in our city,” said Myetie Hamilton, LGC Chief Executive Officer and LGC Fellow since 2016. “The LGC Board continues to reflect the diversity of its Fellows in every way, and LGC will benefit from their respective expertise, leadership and commitment to our community and region,” she added.
Sotelo, an LGC Fellow since 2006, will help determine strategy and governance and work with the LGC leadership team to further the organization’s strategic plan to convene, connect and mobilize the region's most promising leaders to effect change. Sotelo is an accomplished executive with digital, analytics, and marketing expertise who leads the Digital Services organization accountable for realizing the Wealth Management digital vision, strategy, and roadmap for Northern Trust Corporation. Sotelo was formerly appointed to the Chicago Board of Education by Lori Lightfoot in 2016. He also formerly served as a Commissioner on the Chicago Planning Commission. Sotelo has committed himself to community and investing in organizations that help others achieve higher levels of success, with a passionate focus on educational equality in all communities. Previously, Sotelo was a board member of City Year Chicago, Executive Service Corps of Chicago, Rauner YMCA, Peace & Education Coalition, and LGC. He is an Executive Member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA). Sotelo has an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor’s of science degree in accounting from DePaul University.
Wright brings vast leadership skills and commitment to equity and inclusion to the LGC Board that will position the organization for strength and growth in the future. Wright, an LGC Daniel Burnham Fellow, is the U.S. Chief Risk Officer at BMO Financial Group where she is responsible for ensuring that the organization effectively identifies and manages the risks in the business and legal entities through which it operates in the U.S., provides review and oversight of risk issues for leadership, and fosters a strong risk culture across the U.S. Most recently, Wright was U.S. Chief Auditor. Previously, she served as Chief Operating Officer for the North American Commercial Bank. Wright is a board member of the Civic Consulting Alliance, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Foundation for Women. She also serves as co-chair of BMO's Leadership Council for Inclusion and Diversity. Wright holds a master’s in management degree specializing in Finance and Management Strategy from Northwestern University.
